Austrian Career Service Centres
The Austrian Career Service Centeres offer transferable skills training and activities to broaden your career perspective. Career Services Austria (in German only) is the umbrella organisation of nine career planning and advising units at Austrian universities. Here you will find the members.

Building a bridge to Austria for Austrians Abroad – Willkommen Daheim
The Austrian Business Agency (ABA)
offers a wide range of services for Austrians abroad to make their repatriation process as easy and transparent as possible. The three thematic areas of services include family and partners, job search and networking on a personal and professional level.
The following services are offered:
- Consultation on setting up a business, business licenses and funding options, pension funds, as well as tax and labor law matters.
- Assistance with general questions about moving, easy access to authorities, Handy signature, co-insurance of family members, etc.
- Comprehensive information on living in Austria, the health care system, insurance and labor law can be found on the Work-in-Austria website and the Essential Guide is available for free download here.
- Support with the application for a residence title or the RWR card for partners of Austrians in the case of third-country citizenship.
- Dual Career opportunities
- Strong network to stakeholders in business and science, recruiters and headhunters or JobCoaches.
- Every month a community meeting is organised in Vienna, where Austrians abroad who are currently visiting their home country and those who have already returned can meet and exchange ideas.
- Private LinkedIn group as a communication platform
All services are tailor-made and adapted to the individual needs. The Key Account Expats is the central point of contact for questions regarding every phase of the repatriation process, even if the center of life is still abroad.

Training, Coaching & Mentoring
Here you can find an overview of different offers in the area of training, coaching and mentoring in Austria.
The LBG Career Center is the first point of contact for all questions concerning career development in and outside of academia pre- and post-docs as well as institute directors may have (the latter as the former’s supervisors). It is the responsibility of the LBG Career Center to provide confidential advice and accompany its young researchers in the selection and implementation of individual services and to develop concepts as well as organize institutional services. It also implements quality assurance measures and networks with the relevant community in science, business & Co.
Activities of the LBG Career Center comprise services that are either available on the individual level (e.g. Potential Analysis, Coaching, Career Consulting, Start-Up Advice) or on the institutional level (e.g. Career Workshops, Expert Talks, Skills Trainings, Internships), aiming at fostering both, the further development of the individual and of the LBG organization overall (see Services Overview and Services Description).
w-fFORTE promotes women in scientific research and technology and encourages discussions with the goal of achieving greater equal opportunity in research and career development It offers free, high-quality training and discussions tailored to the career needs of researchers, networking, peer-to-peer learning and information based on the latest studies for managers in cooperative research. Events are held in German.
In 2017, the universities in Krems, Linz, and Salzburg began a new and jointly revised career development program for women scientists and academics based on the Mentoring III and karriere_links programs.
Participating mentees receive assistance and support to strengthen their career development plans by attending mentoring sessions and individual coaching sessions as well as seminars designed for doctoral and post-doctoral candidates. A joint program offers space to exchange ideas in various subject areas, career stages, and strengthens interuniversity networks.
The program aims increase the proportion of women in leading academic/scientific positions. The career development program has been designed to offer participating women scientists and academics opportunities to help advance their academic careers.
Since 2006, the FWF has offered coaching workshops for researchers who already have concrete ideas for grant proposals and wish to submit an application for FWF funding in the near future (within approximately one year), and who are very likely to fulfil the requirements for a grant within a one-year time horizon.
From 2015 onward, potential applicants are required to possess sufficient general knowledge about the FWF (e.g. by attending an FWF information event) in order to take part in an FWF coaching workshop. These workshops are open to researchers from all disciplines.
The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) offers a programme for career guidance for young scientists. In a pilot phase, seminars on career orientation for doctoral candidates and formats for career planning for postdocs will be available. The Career Advancement Program is generally available to all academic employees according to their career profile. It offers various formats for professional orientation, career counselling, networking and transferable skills.

The University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna promotes highly talented young female scientists by introducing the new VEmpowerment-Initiative. The core component is the VetWoman support programme for the further development of female high potentials.
The European Medicines Research Training Network (EMTRAIN) establishes a sustainable, pan-European platform for education and training (E&T) covering the whole life-cycle of medicines research, from basic science through clinical development to pharmacovigilance.

AWS
The Austria Wirtschaftsservice Gesellschaft mbH (aws) is the promotional bank of the Austrian federal government and is 100% owned by the Republic of Austria.
With aws First Incubator, the aws support young, innovative people on their way to having their first very own company – with a dash of entrepreneurial spirit, with guidance and resources, and with professional coaching and financial support, and with the aws first community and a network of experts.
INiTS
As a business incubator, INiTS has set itself the goal of increasing the probability of success of start-ups in the Vienna area. INiTS supports young entrepreneurs in turning their ideas into a fast-growing and successful business.
The INiTS SCALEup Programme is an incubation programme of academic incubators and is aimed at students, researchers, scientists and spin-offs from Austrian academic and scientific institutions. Registration for a first interview is possible online at any time.
