EURAXESS Austria networking event: Cultural awarness in communication

Culture is the glue that holds a group of people together. It is defined by a shared understanding of values and behaviours. Culture has a strong influence on the way we interact in our daily lives. Beyond the use of language and words, much of our communication is unconscious and influenced by our cultural background.

In this training we discover the impact of culture on communication and cooperation. We reflect on our own 'natural and cultural ways of expressing ourselves in different situations. We reflect on our personal values and try to find out how they relate to our cultural upbringing. Through dialogue, we will share similarities and differences, deepen our understanding and tolerance of different communication styles, and practice how to adapt the way we talk to each other.

Objectives:
• Raise awareness of the impact of culture on individual behaviour
• Reflect on one's own value system and cultural perspectives
• Raise awareness of cultural issues that affect communication and collaboration
• Understanding the communication style and learning to adopt your communication style

Methodology:
• Short theoretical input
• Exchange of experiences in small groups
• Exercises and practical examples
