The Scientist-in-Residence program invites young scientists from different disciplines to a one-month work stay in Salzburg - “city of knowledge”. A diverse cultural landscape as well as university and non-university research institutions significantly shape the profile of the city of Salzburg and give it international appeal. The SIR scholarship offers young scientists the space for interdisciplinary collaborations, intensifying the posing of questions and the exchange of perspectives and expertise.

The intention of the program is to give international young scientists access to Salzburg's knowledge institutions, to promote sustainable networking and thus to initiate and carry out new projects. The willingness and curiosity for dialogue and cooperation with researchers, as well as with cultural and knowledge institutions is required. It is explicitly desired to present your own focus of activity to the general public in the form of at least one publicly accessible event and other means of knowledge communication (e.g. public relations activities, interviews, etc.).
