OeAD Incoming Scholarship Programmes and further grants for 2024/2025

Grants for Austria

The OeAD offers grants and scholarships to students and researchers from all over the world, carried out by the unit MPC –Mobility Programmes and Cooperation. The programmes range from grants aimed at broad target groups to more specific ones aimed at applicants from certain fields of study or regions. Below, please find an overview of open calls for incoming programmes and the direct link to the online application tool.

The Ernst Mach Grant – worldwide invites applications from PhD students, Postgraduates, Postdocs and young lecturers from universities outside of Austria. Students and academic teaching staff from all fields of study can apply for a grant period of 1 to 9 months, extensions are not possible. 

Deadline: 01.02.2024

Undergraduate and graduate students from non-European countries (conducting a degree on Bachelor or Master level) can apply for the Ernst Mach Grant for Studying at an Austrian University of Applied Sciences, which allows research visits of 4 to 10 months at an Austrian University of Applied Sciences. Extensions are not possible. 

Attention! New application deadline: 01.02.2024

The Ernst Mach Follow-Up Grant is aimed at post-doctoral researchers and lecturers from non-European developing countries, who work at higher education institutions/universities and have in the past received an OeAD scholarship. At the beginning of the grant period, at least 3 years must have passed since the last funded research visit to Austria.

Deadline 01.02.2024, 01.09.2024

The Franz Werfel Fellowship is open to applications from young university teachers of German language and Austrian literature. It is a programme of excellence to promote research and teaching in the field of Austrian literature, scientific cooperation, and the establishment of an international network of committed Germanists in the field of Austrian literature. The fellowship is awarded for 4 to 9 months and includes follow-up measures (financial and material).

The Ernst Mach Grant – ASEA-UNINET offers scholarships for full PhD studies, postdoc research stays and for studies in the field of music practice at an ASEA-UNINET member university in Austria to students and researchers from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Study/Research stays range from up to 9 months to 36 months, depending on the grant type.
