About ARIT

The Austrian Research and Innovation Talk (ARIT) is the Austrian government’s flagship science & technology conference in North America. Since 2003, OSTA has hosted this annual science conference in different cities across North America, highlighting the innovation frontier and potential of each location.

ARIT 2022 theme: Strengthening Trust in Science and Democracy

The beginnings of the pandemic made clear the role of science in creating informed policies to serve the interests of public health, but it also revealed how crucial it is for the public to trust science and the scientists who inform the decision-making process. In the age of increasing misinformation, how can scientists build back trust with the public? How can we democratize access to knowledge and eliminate barriers? How can we empower people and lawmakers to make informed decisions about health, climate, and social policies backed by evidence?

ARIT 2022 will feature discussions on the proliferation of misinformation, the importance of effective science communication, and how the scientific community can bridge gaps and turn inequalities into opportunities for growth.

Details

In the interests of digital accessibility, ARIT 2022 will be a hybrid event with both in-person and virtual components. If participants are not able to join in person, OSTA welcomes their remote participation. The physical event will take place on Saturday, September 17th, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM CDT in Chicago, Illinois, U.S. Convert to your local time zone here.
